VIPLANT remains fresh with over 30 years dedicated to plants.
In 1987, VIPLANT was founded in Paderne, Algarve, an ornamental plant production company, born from the entrepreneurial spirit of two long-time friends. With strong ties to the land and agriculture, Francisco Castello and José Mexia took on this challenge in response to the lack of ornamental plant production in Portugal. The business developed, the nurseries expanded and, in 1999, the brand’s first Garden Centre was opened in Oeiras, where all customers – individuals and professionals – could buy or rent plants, garden accessories, pots, planters and decorative items.
During these years, attitudes towards urban green spaces and gardens began to change significantly, driven by EXPO98. In the new millennium, VIPLANT found the opportunity to flourish again, opening its second Garden Centre in 2006, this time in Vilamoura. At the end of the decade, VIPLANT saw the 2008 crisis as an opportunity to innovate and invest in technological development, expanding its horizons for export.
With this strategy and a strong vision for the VIPLANT brand, the company has continued to grow and remain rooted in the national and European markets. In recent years, VIPLANT has also grown digitally, launching the VIPLANT Online service, bringing its experience of quality, proximity and knowledge to those further afield.
VIPLANT has been dedicated to plants for over 35 years and is still going strong.
